A woman in her 40's will appear before the courts today charged in connection with the murder of a Maura Bergin.
The local church volunteer was found dead at her home in Seville Place at around 11.50 am Wednesday morning.
Locals alerted Gardai when they noticed a woman acting in an "agitated state".
Following a post-mortem, it was revealed Maura-who was in her 80's, had been stabbed a number of times.
A woman was later arrested in connection with the murder, she's now been charged and is due before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.
Gardai have said they are continuing to "investigate all the circumstances" following the murder and have appealed for witnesses who might be able to help their investigation.
