A Spanish woman has appeared in court in Dublin charged in connection with the alleged smuggling of €140,000 worth of cocaine into the capital.
She was arrested at a city hotel shortly after touching down at Dublin Airport from South America on Friday.
Raquel Aparicio Ruiz looked weary as she was brought up from her holding cell at Blanchardstown District Court this morning.
The 32-year-old native of Malaga in the south of Spain has been in custody since her arrest on Friday.
Gardai say she flew into Dublin airport from Frankfurt after taking a connection flight from Brazil. Following a surveillance operation, she was arrested at a hotel in Clondalkin.
She appeared in court today where she was charged with having €140k worth of cocaine for sale or supply.
She made no reply when charged but wiped a few tears from her face as she was led back to the holding area.
The court heard she has no ties with this country and sheÂ’s been remanded in custody to appear before Blanchardstwon District Court again next Monday.
