A woman accused of leading gardaí on a high-speed chase down the M50 was asked to leave court today because she should be self-quarantining.
Gemma Greene, from Bunratty Road, Coolock, Dublin, still has four days left to quarantine after only returning to Ireland from Spain on March 15th.
Gemma Greene is facing two counts of dangerous driving on the M50 on March 1st. She’s accused of speeding around the motorway with gardaí in pursuit.
Footage of the alleged chase was livestreamed on social media and the driver could be heard singing to music.
The 24 year old appeared in court today but was asked to leave after it was brought to the judge’s attention that she had broken Covid-19 rules and should be in quarantine.
The court heard she’d recently been out of the country and only returned to Ireland two days before St Patrick’s Day.
As a result, her quarantine isn’t due to end until Monday and she was told to come back then.
When she does, gardaí will ask the judge to tighten her bail conditions. Her application for free legal aid will also be opposed.
