Gardai investigating serious injuries inflicted on a homeless man in Dublin are appealing to speak with witnesses.
The man, in his thirties, suffered life-changing injuries when attempts were made to remove his tent during a clean-up.
Waterways Ireland says it was dealing with what it's called a "public safety hazard" along the banks of the Grand Canal yesterday afternoon.
Anyone who saw what happened at Wilton Terrace is asked to contact Gardai.
Waterways Ireland said, while an investigation is ongoing, it is "obliged to not comment further".
Dublin City Council said its thoughts "are with the man at this time".
