WhatsApp users can now stop people from adding them to group chats.
A new option lets you block group messages from numbers not saved to your phone.
It also lets you stop everyone - including your contacts - from adding you to a group without asking first.
To find the new settings go to:
- 'Account' > 'Privacy' > 'Groups'
In there, you can choose to receive group messages from:
- Nobody, My Contacts, or Everyone
Users that choose to restrict who can add them to groups can still be invited by a private link.
The link will give basic information about the group.
Users have 72 hours to join, before the link expires.
The new feature is live now, but users may need to update their app to see the changes.
