Job Description

 

Title: Direct Sales Director

This is a newly created role to manage the joint direct sales teams for two major brands 98FM and Spin 1038.

Based in the Malt House and reporting to the two stations CEOs this new Sales Director role will assume full responsibility for delivering ambitious sales targets and managing a highly professional team of sales professionals.

With effect from Spring 2017 the current independent station sales teams will amalgamate to form one sales team reporting to the Director and focusing on selling across the brands to existing and new clients.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Fully support the integration of the staff to the new sales team and work with the CFO and CEOs in setting ambitious business targets for the stations and for the team members.
  • Develop and implement a Dublin direct sales strategy to grow direct sales revenue and client base.
  • Work alongside the CEOs to provide first class client focus.
  • Manage the activity of the Direct Sales Team on an ongoing basis to ensure the monthly achievement of the overall direct team and individual sales targets, to include recruitment, development, evaluation and supporting team members.
  • Provide timely and accurate sales information to the CEO(s).
  • Work in full partnership with the programming teams in each station to identify revenue/ commercial programming opportunities.
  • Ensure all campaigns are executed fully in line with contract terms and commercial rate structure from booking to completion for SPIN 1038,  and 98 FM.
  • Maximise revenue for each Direct Sales executive by working on an individual basis with them to develop detailed sales plans and monitor their delivery on these on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that at all times the Direct Sales Team is adequately staffed, trained and motivated to achieve the sales targets as set out.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by meeting with top clients on a structured scheduled basis.
  • Working with the direct team members supporting them to identify the real objectives of each client and present them with ideas to grow their business using the tools and insight we give you.
  • Grow a Digital sales culture within a team environment and lead S&P and solutions to develop this revenue stream.
  • Ensure that all airtime is sold to  maximise yield for all stations.
  • Monitor ongoing competitive media activity and target clients.
  • Ensure that all ad campaigns which are aired on both stations conform to both BAI  and ASAI regulations.
  • At times this role will involve entertaining clients outside of work hours and during weekends.

 

 

The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • A minimum of 5 plus year’s direct sales Management experience with a proven track record in managing a team, ideally in a media or digital environment.
  • Proven sales strategy development and execution capability.
  • A proven track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Ideally you will have managed a large change project in a previous role
  • A track record in leading, inspiring and motivating a team of sales professionals.
  • A strong ability to multi task and an ability to work across teams from all areas of the business.
  • Demonstrate the creativity and drive to devise new ways to best meet our customer requirements and increase revenue.
  • Strong administration and reporting skills.
  • The ability to work and excel in a fast paced, dynamic and highly competitive sales environment
