Prezzo opened its first restaurant in Ireland earlier this month. The popular UK based Italian restaurant chain’s first Irish outlet is located beside the Vue Cinema in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre. We decided to head along and try it out.
Prezzo describes itself as “Italian casual dining with a touch of class.” It has a modern interior that’s centered around a big wood-burning oven so an inviting atmosphere is immediately created. All the tables were full last night, the staff were friendly and the wine was flowing. My favourite feature in Prezzo is the bar. It’s located beside the waiting area so when you arrive in, you automatically feel like it’s an occasion.
The menu is family friendly. There’s a wide selection of pizzas, pastas, risottos, salads and meat dishes. We decided to go for a starter, main and dessert. And of course we also had to have a few glasses of prosecco.
We got the Mozzarella In Carrozza and Brushetta for starters. The delicious bruschetta consisted of cherry tomatoes, basil, red onion, pesto and garlic on a baked flatbread and had a good kick. The mozzarella in bread crumbs was lightly fried served with a side of pomodoro sauce and was the perfect option for a starter as it wasn’t too filling.
For the mains we went for Spaghetti Carbonara and Posh Pepperoni. The pancetta was done in a carbonara sauce with crispy prosciutto. It was light and creamy.
The pizza - which was topped with salami milano, calabrese sausage, salsiccia piccante pepperoni, prosciutto, sweet roquito chilli peppers, rocket, bella lodi cheese, mozzarella and tomato - was thin, crispy and flavoursome.
We then opted for a scoop of chocolate and vanilla ice-cream for dessert which rounded off a wonderful evening.
Prezzo is perfect for a pre-cinema meal, a romantic date of two and for a night out with the girls. It’s also a great place to take a break during a day of busy shopping in Liffey Valley. Overall the setting, service, food and atmosphere are hard to beat. I would highly recommend Prezzo.
