Ireland's newest soap opera Red Rock will premiere on TV3 at 20.30 tonight. It will be set in a fictional seaside town on the northside of Dublin and will be based around a garda station.
Starting on the day a long dormant feud between two local families is brutally reignited. On one side, the Hennessys, a local dynasty, whose name is above half of the businesses in town. On the other, the Kielys, former trawler men, who have turned petty crime into a cottage industry.
The show will air on TV3 every Wednesday and Thursday.
So who is starring in the soap that has the country talking? Let us introduce you...
Richard Flood plays James McKay, a Garda Superintendent. Married to Claire Hennessy, he's a natural leader, with grace under fire, McKay hails from a long line of Gardaí, stretching back to the 'The Civic Guard' in 1922. His career to date has been an effortless rise through the ranks but he's about to be severely tested as his integrity is questioned and his station is suffering the effects of budget and staff cuts.
Flood's film credits include Taking The Boat, 3 Wise Women, and Solo.
Adam Weafer plays David Hennessy, a Bar Manager, at his mother's pub. Handsome, spoiled and extremely clever, David is focused on
what he wants and needs more than anything else. David has a secret he's keeping from his entire family but when the feud with the Kielys is brutally reignited, his plans start to unravel and he begins to show more of his true self.
Weafer enrolled in the Irish Film Academy in Dublin which he recently graduated from. Following a nationwide search for actors to star in TV3's much anticipated new soap Red Rock, Adam was spotted and cast in the series by leading Irish casting director Louise Kiely. He's been tipped by industry insiders as ''the one to watch out for in 2015''.
Jane McGrath plays Sharon Cleere, a Garda Officer. One of the last guards to join before the recruitment freeze, Sharon has spent the last five years stuck in admin limbo, unable to progress and really dig her heals into being a guard. Now that the freeze has been lifted and a new batch will be entering the force soon, she’s finally been granted a transfer to a bigger, more urban station. Sharon is a girl with a career plan,
smart, resourceful and most of all, ambitious but a bit idealistic and naïve as well.
Jane graduated from the Gaiety School of Acting Full Time Acting Course in June 2009. She starred in mini-series, Amber. Jane was nominated for an IFTA (Best Actress in a Lead Role in 2014) for her part in Black Ice, an independent feature film directed by Johnny Gogan. Jane appeared in the BBC mini-series Quirke alongside Gabriel Byrne and she also played Sissy in the HBO phenomenon Game of Thrones.
