98FM's Best of Dublin Awards celebrate everything that is great about our city. We received almost 800,000 votes over the past fortnight making this year our biggest yet.
The winners will be announced at our exclusive awards ceremony, which takes place on Tuesday May 23rd at the RDS.
Meet the nominees for Best Sports Club...
Clonee United Football Club
Clonee United Football Club currently has 16 boys teams, 9 girls teams and an academy for the under 7's.
They previously used local council pitches in Clonee. But after active fundraising they now have their own clubhouse and grounds based in Damastown, Dublin 15.
"Our members have played a huge part in getting us to where we are now. We have had volunteers helping out with everything to help make our Clubhouse great. It has been built by our members with carpenters, electricians, plumbers and painters. We also run a volunteer led coffee shop that is open at the weekends when the matches are on. All the money from this goes into supplying the stock for the coffee shop and the club to cover ongoing costs."
Clonee United say they are delighted to be nominated:
"We are over the moon at being a finalist in the 98FM's Best of Dublin awards. We have worked very hard over the years to get the club to the high standard that it is at today. We continue to work hard and strive to give the best opportunities to our kids. We have very active social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We are constantly updating these with news from the club and news about our players. We can't wait to attend the night of the awards as we are humbled and honoured to even be nominated".
Crumlin Boxing Club
Crumlin boxing club is a community and voluntary based club which dates back to the 1930's but was taken over by Philip Sutcliffe and Paddy Brady 25 years ago.
The club has gone from strength to strength, winning Boxing Club of the Year in the Irish Athletic Boxing Association Awards 2016 and Best Coaching Award 2016.
The club is located in Pearce Park, Windmill Road, Dublin 12.
"Considering the amount of excellent boxing clubs and other sporting organisations in Dublin we are delighted to to be into the top 5 finalists. And thank everyone that has taken the time to vote for us".
Corduff FC
Corduff FC is the largest football club in the greater Blanchardstown locality. Consisting of 28 teams, the club has over 500 players ranging from 4 years of age to over 35 years of age, and caters for boys and girls of all levels.
Corduff FC is the only club that operates on the basis of a subscription fee of €5 per week and that covers absolutely everything.
Corduff FC operates from the Corduff and Mulhuddart locality and has been in operation since the council estate was built in 1976.
"Being a finalist gives us the assurance that what we're doing on a 100% voluntary basis is appreciated by the public but also recognised by the public".
Ballydoden St. Endas
Ballyboden St Enda's is one of the biggest GAA clubs in Europe with over 130 teams. Each section is an important as the other with over 1000 children taking part in their Academy each weekend.
The club was established in 1969 from a merger of Ballyboden, Wanderers & Rathfarnham St Enda's.
"We are delighted to be a finalist, it means a lot to the community and to the club as a whole. We are a very tight knit community and an award like this would be great for all the teams, staff and volunteers within the club".
Cuala Sports Club
Based in Dalkey, Cuala GAA Club’s roots stretch back to the formation of Cuala Hurling Club in 1918.
After a series of mergers and offshoots, the club as we know it today was formed in 1974, and serves a wide community from Blackrock through Dun Laoghaire to Shankill and Dalkey.
The red & white of Cuala claimed a first Dublin Senior Hurling title in 1989, with two more following soon afterwards in 1991 and 1994.
However, their most successful period has come in recent years, under the management of Mattie Kenny.
Further Dublin Senior Hurling titles were won in 2015 and 2016, with a first ever Leinster crown making its way to Dalkey last December.
The greatest day in the club’s history came on St Patrick’s Day this year, when Cuala beat Clare’s Ballyea to become the first Dublin club ever to win the All-Ireland club hurling Championship.
