A couple from California, who were inseparable for 62 years, have died just hours apart. In a story that sounds just like The Notebook, Don and Maxine Simpson died within four hours of each other. Their granddaughter Melissa Sloan told a local news channel that they both fell ill last month.
Maxine was battling cancer while Don had broken his hip. Melissa says her family decided to keep the couple side by side in their sick beds and they spent time looking through old photo albums and telling stories.
Just four hours after Maxine died, Don passed too. Melissa says as soon as they removed Maxine's body from the room, Don stopped breathing. She says 'it was a true love story'.
