98FM's Best of Dublin Awards celebrate everything that is great about our city. Voting is now closed. We received almost 800,000 votes making this year the biggest yet.

The winners will be announced at our exclusive awards ceremony, which takes place on Tuesday May 23rd at The RDS.

Meet the nominees for Best Coffee...

East Village Coffee

East Village Coffee, located in Clondalkin, opened in November 2016.

Jonny, who spent 14 years working in an accounts role in a multinational, always dreamt of owning his own coffee shop. So, a couple of years ago, he and his wife decided to save everything they could to start making the dream a reality.

Speaking to 98FM, Jonny said: "The first 5 months or so have been hectic, tiring, funny, life affirming, stressful, hugely enjoyable and leaves us hungry for more. The coffee shop has gone from strength to strength and is getting busier and busier.

Our small menu is prepared almost solely in house by our chef Viv Kelly who is part chef part magician, and we have great coffee from Baobab Coffee Roasters in nearby Celbridge."

Jonny says they are delighted to be nominated:

"We are so proud to have been shortlisted for such a prestigious award and it gives us such heart and encouragement to know that so many people feel we are producing such good coffee."

Fonte Coffee

Coffee lovers take note – there is a new premium hand-roasted coffee in town!  Fonté Coffee has arrived from Seattle and is now delighting the palates of its customers at 36 Parliament Street, Dublin 2.

All of their coffee is hand-roasted to order in Seattle, and this is Fonté's 25th year in business in the States.  Fonté Café Bar on Parliament Street was opened by Irish hotelier Andy O'Neill in January and is the brand's first opening outside of the States.

Since the start of the year, the Café Bar has been going from strength to strength and has recently just launched several new concepts such as online ordering, hot desk space with unlimited coffee, takeaway office deliveries and barista training workshops.  Fonté will also supply the hospitality industry with its premium coffee.

"We are delighted to be shortlisted as a finalist for 98FM's Best of Dublin Awards in our opening months.  Our customer is key to our business and we really pride ourselves on the loyal custom we have already attracted. This award would really add to the pride and passion we have about our business and indeed our premium coffee brand.  To be recognised as serving the best coffee in Dublin would not only appreciate the great coffee that we serve but also our super team we have working at the Café Bar."

Perk-U-licious

Perk-U-licious Coffee House is a family run business in the heart of Raheny Village.

The café started out as a chat between sister Stefanie and brother John and became a reality 2010. Their customers return time and time again for their Irish Roasted Coffee- 'Ponáire', which is the translation for 'Bean'.

"It is a fabulous honour, opportunity and very exciting to be part of 98FM's Best of Dublin. Reaching the top 5 BEST COFFEE category was amazing. Winning this award for what we love to serve our customers would be the icing on the cake for us. It has created a great buzz within the village and the support we have is outstanding."

Granthams

Granthams is a speciality coffee shop, home to the Irish Latte Art, Irish Brewers Cup and Aeropress champions. Located on Aungier Street Dublin 2, and we are open since 4th January 2017.

"It’s very exciting and we are absolutely delighted, that after only a few months, people have nominated us and enjoy our coffee so much. Thank you all so much!"

The Grind

John Fu and Darragh Hanaphy opened The Grind Coffee House in September 2015 with the idea of bringing healthy options and speciality coffee to Howth.

Located at 1a St Lawrence Road in Howth Village, The Grind serve speciality coffee from fully trained baristas along with a healthy menu. Their protein pancakes are becoming one of Dublin's favourites.

"We were fortunate enough to win "Best Coffee" in 98fms Best of Dublin awards in 2016 within our first year of business and we are thrilled to be shortlisted in the top 5 again in 2017. We would love to retain the title 2 years in a row."
