The public's being asked to attend a workshop in The Gresham next week so people can have their say on plans to "Reimagine Dublin One".

The American Institute of Architects has teamed up with a team of Dublin designers to set out a vision for area between Capel Street, Parnell Street West, O'Connell Street and the north quays.

Business group Dublin Town wants to develop this part of the city into a buzzing quarter with more cafes, bars, cool shops and places families would want to come and spend time in.

CEO Richard Guiney says the American team will investigate ways of opening the area up:

"They're looking at things like junctions and layouts and how people circulate through the area...and also the access; how we are getting people in efficiently and getting them home safely.

There are 4000 people living there so we need to balance their interests with the commercial interests, especially with more evening time activity."

People who live and work there are being asked for their opinion on how this section of the city should realise its full potential.

All members of the public are invited to the workshop in the Gresham at 6pm on the 10th of March.

Organisers want people to engage with the American team (it's the first time they've done anything like this outside North America.)

There'll also be a quiz on the night with spot prizes, and a 'Humans of Dublin One' exhibition commissioned by Dublin Town and created by renowned photographer Peter Varga.
