Folks,
98FM’s weekly sports show “Now That’s What I Call Sport” airs every Sunday morning from 9-10am.
Presented by myself Johnny Lyons, this week’s show broadcast on Sunday February 8th features the following guests :
- Keith Wood –
Our favourite baldie is back to wow us all with rugby cant in the year Ireland win the 6 Nations Championship and the World Cup !
Woody’s been lying low since the highs of Ireland winning all three matches in the November series of internationals.
But will rise like a phoenix from the ashes as Joe Schmidt’s boys kickstart the Six Nations with a trip to the home of the Rugby Metal Mutha.
Yes it’s a Journey to the Centre of the Mullet (otherwise known as Italy) with Woody adopting the Angry Anderson look ie shaven head with a ‘tude to match !
Expect the Boys in Green to march to victory at the Stadio Olympico in Rome and send us on the way to success in the first leg of our quest for World Domination !
- Eddie Gormley -
An historic day looming as the League of Ireland’s newest club takes their bow in the big time.
Cabinteely meet Wexford Youths on Friday March 6th at Stradbrook in the opening game of this year’s First Division.
It’s Cabinteely’s debut match at senior level and brings football to a part of the Southside that’s never seen top level football.
Some may question the decision but - to be fair – there’s a huge catchment area in the surrounds with the likes of Joeys producing a ton load of players.
Mebbe Bray Wanderers will have to source their players from County Wicklow from now on !
It’s great to see Eddie Gormley back in League management – and live in studio with one of his players - a leviathan of the domestic game after coming back to the Emerald Isle at the age of 24 after stints cross channel with Spurs and Doncaster.
But there is one mountain to climb – how are we gonna get a decent football chant for the new boys ?
We have the Mount – we have the Noggin but you can’t shorten Cabinteely can you ?
So there’s only one way to do it – to the tune and lyrics of the Ramones “Blitzkrieg Bop” here we go :
“ Hey ho, let’s go! Hey ho, let’s go !
They’re forming in straight line
They’re going through a tight wind
The kids are losing their minds
The Cabinteely Bop “.
Eh it doesn’t scan or.. ah whatever!
- Ger Brennan –
We throw in the show with one of Dublin’s finest #made in Dublin.
Ger has sweated bucketloads in the process of winning two All Irelands.
But on Sunday he ditches the blue shirt to assess his club side St Vincents’ chances of winning their All Ireland Club Football semi final against Corofin in Tullamore on Saturday week.
And I rather liked his “I’m a traditionalist to the point of common sense” quote when asked would he like to see the Club finals stay on Paddy’s Day which was his way of saying no.
There’ll be more of that shooting from the hip talk from 9am on Sunday !
Competitions :
- One night breakaway with dinner for two pp in the four star Newpark Hotel which was recently awarded the number one hotel in Ireland for families by TripAdvisor
- Cabinteely shirts to giveaway
Thanks,
Johnny.
