Joan of Arc: God's Warrior - BBC2, 9pm

I am a big fan of a BBC documentary and tonight Dr. Helen Castor tackles a cultural icon who has fascinated the world since her death at the age of 19 in 1431 when she was burned at the stake for heresy - read being a woman who dared to do a 'man's job' as a successful military commander, how very dare she. Also, she was accused of cross-dressing because she wore male clothes in prison to make her being raped harder. Again, how very dare she. Joan of Arc has been celebrated by everyone from The Simpsons to Kate Bush, Playstation to William Shakespeare, Verdi to Voltaire. Yeah, she's kinda a big deal. Check it out.

The Walking Dead - RTE 2, 10.50pm *Gratuitous Rick and Daryl with arms out picture alert

Oh yeah, that's the stuff. Tonight the 5th season of the zombie thriller kicks off with the story taking a different arc; there is increased focus on the humans of this new world and how they treat, react to each other and build a new world rather than the survival-fest it has been during the previous seasons. Tonight, Carol gets seriously kick ass in her efforts to save the gang from Terminus where, and I'm not exaggerating, things are bloody horrifically, horribly, grim for the lads that were captured at the end of last season.

Set Your Recorder for: Gary Lineker on the Road to FA Cup Glory, BBC 1, 11.15pm

On Saturday, Arsenal will be hoping to retain their FA Cup Champions title when they take on Aston Villa at Wembley. In this programme, Lineker examines what it is people feel about the historic event; do they care about it anymore in a world of Champions League and UEFA cups? He chats to Michael Owen, Fabrice Muamba, Steven Gerard and Jose Mourihno amongst others. Got interested when I mentioned the special one, didn't you.

I'll be right here, you can listen with one ear.
