The Affair - Sky Atlantic, 9pm

The Ronseal of the telly world is at a mid-way point and it has become a must watch, for various reasons; the dramatic tension, the sexiness, the performances, the suspense. The usual stuff that makes addictive television but I think my friend put it best. Let me explain through text messages.

(Dominic West is the fella above going in for the lunge. The identity of my friend is being protected for reasons you shall see below.)

Do you need any other reason to watch? Thought not.

To be clear, my messages are the ones in green.

Modern Times:Weekend Warriors - BBC2, 9.30pm

MAMIL's are a species that most of us have in our lives. They are a relatively new phenomenon but have spread quicker than a McDonald's and a Starbuck's having a baby. They are: Middle Aged Men In Lycra and love nothing more than getting into their tightest pants and telling everyone about their triathlon training. Recently, the *MAMIL's have upped the stakes - with military style obstacle courses like Tough Mudder. This programme follows five men who love nothing more than jumping outta bed on a Saturday and fecking off from their family to roll around in mud.

*MAWIL - Middle Aged Women in Lycra is, of course, a thing lest I be accused of sexism.

Sweet Home Alabama - RTE1, 9.35pm

In light of recent revelations that our McDreamy - Patrick Dempsey - was fired from Grey's Anatomy because of his 'difficult behaviour', maybe you need this movie to remind you of a simpler time, a time when McDreamy could be trusted, with your heart, ferryboats and hair gel. I realise I have mentioned nothing about the movie. Girl - Boy - Boy; love triangle. That's about it.

Set Your Recorder for: Minors in Designers, UTV Ireland, 9pm

This is the Bassi family who have made millions from selling gaudy designer clothes to vapid parents who think that their 1 year old REALLY needs a Gucci handbag to store her Liga. You're gonna want to watch it.

Leaving Cert fear? I'm right here.
