Hannibal - Sky Living, 10pm

I had been holding off watching this programme because the second two movies in the trilogy are pretty cack. I know, this is a prequel and made by entirely different people - Bryan Fuller created this along with the vastly underrated Pushing Daisies -but once you have a bad impression of something, it makes you more reluctant to put the effort in. I was wrong. My brother introduced me to Hannibal when I had a stomach bug which is ironic really as the programme involves a lot of people being eaten in a sumptuous manner. I didn't eat meat for about 2 weeks afterwards.

The third season begins tonight with the perfect Gillian Anderson having been made a full cast member. At the end of last season Hannibal, played by the brilliant Mads Mikkelson ( your man from Casino Royale), had stabbed profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), killed Abigail, wounded several others  and was on his way to France. Where better to relax after a murderous rampage. Will people cotton on to what he's at?

Shut-ins: Britain's Fattest People - Channel 4, 10pm

This documentary was first broadcast in January but it being summer, the repeats are in full flow. It focuses couples Sharon & Andrew and Aftab & Millie. Sharon and Aftab have become so large that they are virtually recluses with their partners becoming their carers.

I don't know how I feel about this programme; Is it a cautionary tale of our sedentary lifestyles? A moving portrait of love or a way for us to laugh at fat people. I fear the latter. You decide.

Nashville - TG4, 11.40pm

Yes, I know I've been banging on about this show. That's because it's great. Yes, people sing but they don't burst into song when trying to get someone to pass them loo roll under the door in a club. It revolves around Rayna James (Connie Britton, the woman with the greatest hair in the world) a country music legend whose star is fading. She is convinced to team up with the new darling of the country world, Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere who is just brilliant as the brat) Add Rayna's former lover Deacon who is still part of her band, her husband Teddy who has political aspirations with his strings being pulled by her magnet father Lemarr and this is the soap you've been looking for since Home and Away went all shite TBH... i know, harsh words.

Why am I talking about this again.... because although the show has just finished its 3rd season, TG4 is showing it from the beginning in all its diamanted cowboy boots glory so get on it.
