The Director of the Institute of Sport, Gary Keegan, believes the Irish Amateur Boxing Association made the right decision in appointing Zaur Antia as the interim head coach of the High Performance Unit.

Former head coach Billy Walsh and the IABA failed to reach agreement over a new deal for Walsh, leading to the Wexford man's departure to take up a new job with the US Women's Boxing team last October.

Keegan established the High Performance Unit in 2003 and, as in his then role as director, was responsible for hiring Walsh.

He believes the IABA have put the right man in place ahead of the Rio Olympics

Keegan was speaking at the opening of the brand new High Performance Training Centre on the National Sports Campus in Dublin.

The senior squad will move from their spiritual home at the National Stadium to the new €4 million state of the art facility within the next two months.

Keegan was asked by 98FM Sport's Jamie Moore if there is a tinge of regret that Walsh won't get the chance to work at the new facility ahead of the big one in Brazil

Keegan believes it is now time to leave last year's controversy in the past

Keegan also spoke about the difficulty facing Irish sport in trying to keep our best coaches in Ireland, especially with the draw of big money abroad.

He hopes that the new High Performance Training Centre and the conveyor belt of top class boxers, will help to encourage Irish coaches say no to foreign interest

You can hear Gary's full interview on Now That's What I Call Sport on Sunday morning from 9am.

He'll talk through just how good this training centre will be for Irish sport, how it will help and his hopes for Team Ireland at Rio 2016.
