League of Ireland club Waterford United are surviving “week to week” according to their General Manager.

Paul Cleary was a guest on our League of Ireland Podcast this week.

The First Division club need to raise €80,000 to survive the season after Chairman and main benefactor John O’Sullivan resigned recently due to ill health.

In the week that the club made the plea, just 268 fans turned up to their home game against UCD, which disappointed Cleary.

He says they “look ok for this week” in terms of paying wages and meeting their financial obligations.

Waterford do not have a jersey sponsor this season, a deal that in the past would have earned them up to €80,000 per season.
