If you've ever felt like a worse parent - or that you will someday be a worse parent - than Frank Gallagher in Shameless, there is a story that will make you feel better.
A family in France were heading off to the Rivera on their holidays when they noticed that something was wrong. Their 3 year old daughter wasn't with them. The mother and father had pulled into a motorway layby and had taken off again - WITHOUT THEIR DAUGHTER IN THE CAR!
The littel girl was found by other holiday makers. When the police arrived, all the little girl could tell them was that she had a brother and sister, they were going to the seaside when she say her Daddy's car pull away. Here's the kicker, the parents had only noticed that their daughter wasn't with them when they heard an alert on the radio. They looked to the back of the car and no 3 year old was to be found. At this stage, they had driven more than 144km's away from the rest stop. That's like driving from Dublin to Roscrea and not realising that your girl was in the car. I've done it with passports, with shoes, with bags, with presents but never with a human being.
I suppose children are very small but what were the two other kids thinking? That their 3 year old sister had been a figment of their imagination all along?
Can you imagine the trauma? Actually, yes, you can as we found out on The Ray Foley Show.
