A turkey memorial has been held outside a butchers on Talbot Street today.

The shrine was to mark the death of thousands of birds that will become dinner this Christmas.

Animal rights group Aran says most animals, unless they're a beloved family companion, don't get funerals.

Today campaigners brought one of the victims out of the shadows by giving him a name "Terry" and hope the memorial will encourage more people to go vegan for Christmas.

Flowers and a book of condolence were also on hand for people to sign.

Check out 98FM's Jamie Moore, John Carmody from Aran and Darragh Buckley of FX Buckley's Butchers speaking to Dublin Talks.
