Folks,
98FM’s weekly sports show “Now That’s What I Call Sport” airs every Sunday morning from 9-10am.
Presented by myself Johnny Lyons, this week’s show broadcast on Sunday March 29th features the following guests:
- Marty Moore –
Now how many gold medals can fit into On Air Studio 1 in The Malt House? We shall find out on Sunday morning as we’re awash with Six Nations Championship winners! And the Daddy of ‘em all finishes the show with a flourish!
Sure Marty thinks this Championship lark is a piece of cake – with 10 appearances in the green shirt under his belt and he’s two sparkling gold medals to show for it ! Easy peasy!
The Dubliner made his debut for Ireland in the first game of last season’s Championship and all his matches have come in the Six Nations. All in all, Marty has spent 225 minutes of normal playing time on the pitch for Ireland.
We’ll look back on that incredible last day of action where the tension was ramped up match after match with Ireland on tenterhooks having done their end of the bargain before England caused a countrywide heart attack by coming so close – and yet finishing so far in the final analysis.
- Ailis Egan –
Behind every man there’s a good woman or so they say! But these days the fairer sex are out in front fighting their own battles. So as it is with the guys lifting the Six Nations for the second year in a row so it is with the ladies matching em trophy for trophy.
Now the boys needed to win by 21 which they did but the girls needed to win by 27 – they put 73 on the Scots – nuff said! And you have to hand it to ‘em , they’re like the GAA players – they’re holdin’ down 2 jobs!
Tight head prop Ailis has to do the dayjob working as a fundraiser for MS as well as gettin’ down and dirty with her teammates both before and after work. And – with no competitive rugby between now and September – Ailis and the girls have to keep their gander up with training sessions, bootcamps etc. Not easy for motivation!
Now Ailis won’t want me to reveal this nugget – especially with Marty in the house – but there’s a spy in the camp ahead of Leinster’s big European Champions Cup clash with Bath next week! And it’s Ailis – born and bred in Bath!! But these days as Irish as they come.
- Kevin Kilbane –
Well one tournament’s over and qualification for another one continues ! As soon as the Six Nations finishes, focus switches to soccer and the vital European Championship qualifier against Poland at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday night.
The Poles are sitting proudly on top of the group but – hey – it‘s time for David to slay Goliath! So how are we gonna do it?
No better man than Kevin to answer that – with over a hundred caps for the Boys in Green he’s in the perfect position to size up the pros and cons and come to the honest conclusion that IRELAND’S GONNA WIN! C’mon the Boys in Green !
- Jonathan Garth – The Cricket World Cup ends on Sunday with the final between Australia and New Zealand in Melbourne. The match will be nicely hotting up by the time the show starts and former Irish international Jonathan will give us his expert view on how the game is shaping up and also on who should succeed Phil Simmons as coach of the Ireland team.
Competitions :
- Premium Level Tix for Republic of Ireland against Poland at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday night
- Tix for I, Keano at the Olympia Theatre
Thanks, Johnny.
