98FM's weekly sports show Now That's What I Call Sport airs every Sunday morning from 9am.
Presented by yours truly, Johnny Lyons, this week's show broadcast on July 19th features the following guests...
Richie Partridge
As part of a Liverpool special on the day the Reds are in town to meet UCD in a friendly at the Belfield Bowl, it'll be great to meet up with Richie, a former player with Liverpool who's now a rising star amongst the backroom staff.
Gee whizz - myself and Richie go back a long way, almost back to the time when I had a short back and sides and short trousers!
I first came across Richie when he was 12 (I had honourable intentions) and blazing across the schoolboy scene.
I was a cub journalist and spotted this excellent winger starring with Stella Maris bombing down the right.
Twas the bould Richie and I conducted my first interview with him that night for "The Star" - my first exclusive!
I had the privilege of meeting his family and his wonderful mum Yvonne and even popped round to the house to do the oul' interviews!
(Johnny - PD here - you're gettin' too sappy now!)
He didn't last with Stella long - Richie was destined for pastures new and he was one of three who signed for Liverpool at the same time, Matt McManus and Paul O'Mara were the others.
The world was Richie's oyster but the dreaded cruciate put an end to Richie's hopes of world domination.
For he ruptured the damn ligament three times during a career which definitely hit high points but could have delivered so much more.
The Mulhuddart native made his debut for Liverpool at the age of 20 starting against Stoke City in an 8-0 win in November 2000.
It was a lesson in how difficult the top level can be as - even though Pool netted 8 - Richie was well marked by the vastly experienced Stoke left full Tony Dorigo.
You know I remember vividly the moment when I knew it was never gonna happen at Liverpool for him - I was watchin Chelsea v Pool live on the telly a year after the Stoke game, Richie was on the bench, Pool were four down (it was the time Gerard Houllier was in hospital and Phil Thompson was caretaker boss), it was game over and yet he was left gettin' splinters on his arse.
Houllier - wait till I meet you again !
Move another year on and Richie was scoring one of the best goals of the 2001/02 season - it's definitely in the top three of all time Coventry City goals.
He'd been sent to Highfield Road on loan when he scored the opener against Norwich in a 1-1 draw in October 2002.
Picking up the ball in the left back position, Richie ran the rest of the pitch bamboozling the Canaries as he slalomed his way by all comers before homing in on goal and slotting home. There's a memorable picture of Coventry striker Dean Holdsworth hoisting lil' Richie up on his shoulders to celebrate the wonder goal!
his was Richie's most productive spell on the pitch and he was even selected for the Republic of Ireland where he was an unused sub during the nil all draw with Greece in Athens in November 2002.
He only made two other appearances for Liverpool, both in further League Cup games before he was let go by Pool and he slipped down the Leagues before calling time out on his career in 2013.
One of Richie's happiest times was in 1998 when he won the UEFA Under 18s Championship with Ireland beating Germany 4-3 on penalties in the final in Cyprus where his most famous teammate was one Robbie Keane.
And fact freaks - Richie's married to Lesley Owen, sister of Michael Owen.
Richie - lookin' forward to seein' you again mate!
Jordan Rossiter
Tipped for the top, Jordan could be the next best thing at Anfield.
Only 18, Jordan's already played for the Reds and scored on his debut against Middlesbrough in the League Cup.
We talk to Jordan about his burgeoning career and we find out what is "The Liverpool Way".
Francis Howley
Former Irish pro on the European Tour, Francis is the Director of Golf at Carton House and will tell us who's gonna win The Open!
Gus Ryan
It's the calm after the Conor McGregor storm but there's no rest in the UFC and our MMA expert Gus looks back on the first ever UFC event in Scotland with Dubliners Paul Redmond and Patrick Holohan as well as Joseph Duffy on the bill.
Competition: New Liverpool away shirts to give away and tickets for Liverpool v UCD at Belfield.
