Sport Ireland released their annual anti doping review for 2015 today.

They conducted 1028 tests including 295 blood tests in 2015, with three failures.

Two of those failures have been confirmed in Motorsport (cocaine) and GAA (stanozolol). One is still pending.

782 tests were conducted out of competition with 246 in competition.

Blood testing has increased by 5%.

Athletics and cycling were the most tested sports, with rugby, GAA, soccer and boxing next in line.

Dr Una May, Director of Ethics and Participation in Sport, outlines what the results mean.

She was talking to 98FM's Jamie Moore.

Sport Ireland have also signed a contract to test UFC on behalf of the US Anti doping agency.

Minister for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring TD, confirmed today that the government will spend €18,000 per week in 2016, €910,000 for the year, on drug testing in sport.

Sport Ireland spent over €1.6 million on the testing programme in 2015.

Dr May hopes all Irish athletes will be clean in every sport they compete in.

We'll hear more from Dr Una May, Sport Ireland CEO John Treacy and Director General of the World Anti Doping Agency, David Howman, on Now That's What I Call Sport this Sunday from 9am.
