The National Handball and Croke Park Community centre is open for business!
Yesterday former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern officially opened the new sports facility.
Located on Sackville Avenue, the 15 million euro centre will host local community groups in the area.
It is the hope that the facility will also showcase Ireland's elite players and entice future generations.
Nial Ring, Dublin North Inner City Councillor says he's delighted with the centre.
"It's just a fabulous centre cost 15 million, so there's a lot of negotiation with the local community to get it over the line.
That negotiation was led by Bertie for the last six or seven years.
It took the official opening, which was a great event."
The Handball World Championships will be held in the centre next year, with Dublin Handball already moving in to begin preparations.
Brian Carroll & Gary McConnell from Kells Handball Club are here in the Senior Doubles Final tomorrow (good luck, lads!), but today I had the honour of officially opening the new @GAA_Handball and Croke Park Community Centre, with former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.
