Keith Treacy played 199 senior games in England and represented Ireland six times at senior level, making his debut against Argentina in the opening game at The Aviva Stadium at the age of 21.
Six years later, he’s home, playing in the League of Ireland for St. Pats, and is “a lot poorer but a lot happier” which was the headline in the Irish Independent this week.
The 27 year old joins Jamie Moore on Now That’s What I Call Sport on Sunday morning from 9am.
He’ll talk about life in England, how he was pressured into missing Ireland senior games by club managers who wanted to save him for their own games, the vile abuse he suffered from his own fans and how his life was not worth living.
He told Jamie why he eventually had to leave the money behind and come home.
Hear Keith’s full 20 minute interview on Now That’s What I Call Sport on Sunday morning at 9.40am.
