Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has again been forced to defend Roy Keane after an alleged road rage incident involving his assistant boss and a taxi driver in Manchester.

The matter is currently under investigation by Greater Manchester police but comes just months after an altercation involving Keane and an Irish fan at the team hotel in Portmarnock.

Keane has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the last couple of months but O'Neill insists the Cork native is not a distraction to him or the squad.

Listen to 98FM's Jamie Moore's five minute chat with O'Neill here.

O'Neill was speaking at the launch of a new sponsorship arrangement that will see Spar become the Official Convenience Retail Partner of the FAI for the next four years.

Spar is also to become the title sponsor of the Primary School 5s Programme.
