Longford look set to be without Donal McElligott for their Leinster Championship opener. The GAA's Central Hearings Committee have handed the Mullinalaghta man a one-game suspension.
McElligott was red-carded deep into added time of Longford's Allianz Football League Division 3 defeat to Westmeath in March. He sought a hearing with the CHC on April 24th. They found McElligott's alleged infraction of "Behaving in any way which is dangerous to an opponent" to be proven and handed him a one-game suspension.
His ban means the half-back will miss Longford's Leinster Football Championship quarter final against either Kildare or Wicklow on May 16th. However, he still has the option of taking his case to the Central Appeals Committee.
