Sam Allardyce's position is "untenable" - that's according to one of his former players.

The England manager met with a bogus consortium and discussed accepting a £400,000 offer to help them "get around" FA rules on third party ownership.

The practice was banned because the FA felt it raised issues over the integrity of the competition but 'Big Sam' was caught on secret video by the Daily Telegraph newspaper having discussions about how he could help.

Allardyce signed former Republic of Ireland player Kevin Kilbane to his first pro contract at Preston, but Kilbane feels his position with England, after just one match as manager, is untenable.

He is heading for showdown talks with FA chairman Greg Clarke and chief exec Martin Glenn amid mounting pressure suggesting he could be sacked.

Kilbane spoke to 98FM's Jamie Moore at the launch of the Aviva FAI Junior Cup on Tuesday.

Kevin will also be a guest on Now That's What I Call Sport this Sunday from 9am, looking ahead to Ireland's next two World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Moldova.
