Folks,
98FM’s weekly sports show “Now That’s What I Call Sport” airs every Sunday morning from 9-10am.
Presented by myself Johnny Lyons, this weekÂ’s show broadcast on Sunday September 15th features the following guests :
1. Kevin Kilbane –
In the week that saw Gio depart the Irish managerÂ’s job, it was important to nab a 24 carat goldie for discussion on this one.
And we got it in the form of KK who played 110 times for Ireland.
Some of those were under Trap and so itÂ’ll be intriguing to hear his take on where it went wrong and whoÂ’ll take over in the managerial hotseat.
With King Kev, as a broadcaster you have to look over your shoulder as he got a degree in Sports Broadcasting across the pond and is intent on pursuing a career in the fourth estate.
In fact there’s no such worry – I can vouch for the fact Kevin’s one of the most genuine people never mind footballers I’ve had the undoubted privilege to meet.
And there’s an open invitation for KK to come in on the show and do a “Desert Island Discs” edition replete with his favourite Oasis tracks! (Calm down Hairy Man, Calm down)!
2. Paul Curran –
ItÂ’s the calm before the storm in terms of the Dubs.
In the week before the massive All Ireland final against Kerry, we hear the opinions from a former winner of Sam Maguire on whether the Boys in Blue can win the coveted gong again.
Midfielder cum half back CurranÂ’s the perfect man to talk about potential chinks in the defensive armour of the Dubs.
And weÂ’ll wish Curran all the best as he recuperates from an operation on a slipped disc.
3. Sue Ronan -
With all the talk about whoÂ’s going to be the next manager of Ireland, IÂ’m delighted to say that a manager of Ireland joins us live in the studio !
The Republic of Ireland Ladies boss Sue talks about a crucial time in the history of Irish womensÂ’ football when the seniors are beginning to gain a foothold on the international rung and our underagers are performing remarkably well having got to a final of the Euros where they lost to Spain.
The visitationÂ’s on the eve of another Euro qualifying campaign where Ireland will meet Germany, winners of 5 of the last 6 tournaments.
So no pressure there !
And I should admit my connection with Sue.
The two of us go back a long way as I worked as Press Officer with the Ladies team way back in the early nineties (yes sheÂ’s seen me long haired and leather jacketed) and Sue was a dashing centre forward !
Ahh the memories !!
4. Mike Denver -
Now folks ssssssh!
ItÂ’s very important you stay mum on this one as The Hairy Man doesnÂ’t know about this yet!
It’s a long story but suffice to say – as a tie in with the Gain St Leger race at the Curragh later on on the Sunday – country and western star Mike will gab on about the races, talk about his hurling days with Portumna and – sacre bleu – croon a country and western ditty live on air!
Competition:
Wait for it folks

Thanks,
Johnny.
