Politicians can become internet sensations for all sorts of reasons – our own Taoiseach gets plenty of coverage because international media seem incapable of telling the difference between Enda and Edna Krabappel.
There is a new political sensation on the net and it is better than anything we could ever produce.
His name is Ryutaro Nonomura. He is a 47 year old man that is an assembly member of Hyogo province in Western Japan.
This is why he is now famous:
He bawled like a baby.... would you call those baby sobs? What wails like that? A banshee? This happened at a press conference yesterday when he was trying to explain his way out of his suspected misuse of three million yen of public money.
Now this might be the bit that gets you – that is the equivalent of €22,000. Mmmm........
He goes on to start thumping the table in his frustration as he explains that he really did take 106 trips to a hot springs town – he just forget to get receipts.
He went on for quite a while.
