Liverpool and Newcastle legend Terry McDemott joined Jamie Moore in studio on Now That’s What I Call Sport this morning.
McDermott won three European Cups, six league titles, three league cups and the PFA player of the year award.
He scored Anfield’s ‘greatest ever goal’ and was involved on April 3rd 1996 at Anfield, as Liverpool beat Newcastle 4-3 in the Premier League’s ‘best ever game’
Terry told Jamie about having a punch up with Everton player Gary Shanley in one of his many Merseyside derbies.
“I punched him, then we went for a drink”
He also got himself into hot water after taking a wee off a balcony onto a nurse’s head (by accident)
Terry was then Newcastle assistant manager during a very good period for the club.
“The football we played, I’ve never seen anything like it. I know there have been the Arsenals, the Chelseas and Manchester Uniteds since… and even Liverpool before – but for a year or two we played football that I haven’t seen the likes of before or since.”
He returned to coach Newcastle again 2005-08, and had spells since at Huddersfield, Birmingham and Blackpool and played for Cork City in 1985, making 7 appearances.
