Bohemians defender Daniel Byrne is back fighting fit, but things could have been very different had an operation on a serious knee injury not saved his career.

The 22 year old was carried off on a stretcher playing against Cork City in the FAI Cup in August 2014 and has only just returned to the Bohs team, after the knee injury happened again in training.

He was speaking to Jamie Moore on 98FM's League of Ireland Podcast this week about his injury hell.

Dan's focus is now back on the football, having returned to the starting line-up in their 1-0 defeat to Galway last weekend, he hopes to play against Longford on Friday's as Bohs look to improve on their stop start season.
