This morning on Dublin Talks we discussed a message we received from a listener who contacted us about his disgust for the adverts on TV for starving children in Africa.
The man who contacted us (Adam) told us he is sick of seeing these ads while eating his dinner and that "charity begins at home". Adam wants these ads banned and says "these people are not our problem and we don't care about them".
During the conversation another caller rang in to back up Adams message and shocked and sickened many of you when he said "I don't want to be watching African kids eating their grain feed when I am eating my steak".
We also heard from a caller who said that "African women should not be allowed to have children and should even be sterilised because it is unfair to bring children in to that life".
We then spoke to some callers who said they were "ashamed" and "saddened" to be Irish listening to these people!! They believe that we have no idea of what hardship is compared to the people who are starving in Africa and that "we are a heartless and racist nation".
