Wolves and Republic of Ireland defender Matt Doherty joined us on this morning’s show ahead of his sides upcoming game against his boyhood club Arsenal. The Dubliner shared his thoughts on his experience playing against some of the world’s best players week in week out and the mentality inside the Ireland camp.
There has been a lot of talk surrounding the international future Of West Ham defender Declan Rice following his break from the Irish squad to consider his future after a call up from his native England. Rice who has worn the Irish senior jersey more than once has not played a competitive fixture for the boys in green thus allowing him to change allegiances. Doherty had this to say on the matter.
“I haven’t really taken much notice of it to be honest. Obviously, you hear little bits here and there but I’m not looking into it.”
“He can choose either one I’m not really that bothered.”
“He’s obviously a very good player and he would be an asset to the squad but that’s his decision at the end of the day whatever he chooses that’ll be his choice and everyone else will get on with it.”
