We were really excited to see Dublin's first Tram Cafe open up on Wolfe Tone Square a couple of weeks ago, but noone was really sure where it came from or what it's story was.

Three years ago, the now owner of the Tram Cafe, spotted the old carriage sitting in an empty field in Cavan.

With a clear vision of what he wanted to turn the tram into, Dave set about purchasing the tram and transforming it into a fully functioning Café.

But where did the tram actually come from and how did it end up sitting alone in a field?

Well the Tram was actually built in 1902, in the USA. Philadelphia to be precise. It was then mostly used as a working tram in Lisbon, Portugal. After it retired, it then moved to Wales, where it was displayed in a museum. Just how it ended up in the Cavan field is unknown.

We're delighted it's found a new home in Dublin's city centre.
