Martin Russell has spoken for the first time since leaving his post as Limerick manager on Monday.
The League of Ireland club and Russell released a joint statement saying they had agreed to end his almost three year spell at the club by “mutual consent”
The 49 year old led to club to the SSE Airtricity League First Division title with the most comprehensive winning margin in history.
The Blues won the title by 23 points having win 24, drawn three and lost just one of their 28 games.
They scored 86 goals and conceded just 26.
That was after relegation in a play-off against Finn Harps a year earlier.
Limerick began this campaign with a whopping 5-1 win over Sligo Rovers before 1-0 defeats against Champions Dundalk and Bohemians.
A 1-1 draw with Finn Harps was followed by a 1-0 victory in Bray.
Russell’s last game in charge was a 3-0 defeat against Premier Division leaders Cork City last Friday night.
Despite reports suggesting he had been sacked, the former UCD Manager insists the decision was mutually agreed between himself, Chairman Pat O’Sullivan and the board after their “agreed to disagree” on a number of issues relating to the club.
The ex St Patrick’s Athletic player plans to get back into management when the right opportunity arises, and didn’t rule out working abroad.
His son Sean is currently playing with Louisville City in the USL in America.

Russell confirmed he will go to Richmond Park on Friday night to watch his old team face St Patrick's Athletic.
