Irish Light Heavyweight boxer Emmet Brennan is going to the Tokyo Olympics next month.

The Dublin native beat Liridon Nuha of Sweden on a unanimous decision in their box-off at the European Olympic qualifiers in Paris on Monday evening.

During the extremely difficult challenge, he overcame a cut as well as a controversial point deduction.

Brennan is the seventh Irish fighter to seal his place at the upcoming Games.

Four judges scored the contest a 28-28 draw but gave the inner-city native the nod.

The final score was 27-29, 28-28, 28-28, 28-28.

Elsewhere on Monday, Michaela Walsh and Kellie Harrington both booked their places in their finals in the French capital.

Belfast native Walsh won her semi-final against Bulgaria's Stanmira Petrova on a split decision, having already qualified for the Games.

And Harrington cruised to a unanimous 5-0 win over Turkish lightweight Esra Yidiz to mean she will come home with at least a silver medal.
