Jason McAteer compared the atmosphere after his goal against Holland in 2001 better than the one after Shane Long scored at The Aviva against Germany.

Everyone remembers that moment in the old Landsdown Road when McAteer swept with ball into the net against The Dutch to help Ireland to the 2002 World Cup.

Comparisons have been made to that goal and resultant atmosphere, and Shane Long's winner against Germany at The Aviva as Ireland beat Germany in the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

McAteer was on 98FM's Now That's What I Call Sport this morning with Jamie Moore.

He doesn’t like being called a Spice Boy and was sold to Bolton, with the transfer fee being a bag of footballs

Former Republic of Ireland International Jason McAteer, speaking at the launch of the 2016 SPAR FAI Primary School 5s Programme.

Ireland women’s international Aine O’Gorman is also an ambassador for this programme.

This fun five-a-side schools competition is open to boys and girls from 4th, 5th and 6th class.

County blitzes will begin at the end of February and the winners will then progress to regional, provincial and the national finals which will be held in the Aviva Stadium on May 11th.
