3. Old Dublin
This is the oldest surviving film footage of Dublin … shot back in 1897. it shows an average day and traffic passing by Nelsons pillar.
Take a look at the video here...
The footage is included in a new film called ‘Birth of a Nation’ and is showing daily at the Royal College of Physicians, until 31 October. It’s been running since early September.
It includes the only known footage of Padraig Pearse at the graveside of O’Donovan Rossa in 1915, images of Michael Collins – a week before his death, and extended footage of Collins’ funeral.
2. Rip Off Temple Bar
Temple Bar summarised in one catchy trad song:
1. The Late Late Toy Show
RTE has just opened applications for the golden tickets to this year’s show which is due to air on Friday November 28th.
Last year over 40,000 people applied for just 200 tickets, leaving 39,800 people disappointed.
The rules:
Over 18's only
Tickets are non transferable
And if you’re thinking of bombarding them with entries, RTE say ‘multiple applications will disqualify you.’
Part of the applications includes asking potential guests:
‘If you had to perform a party piece/special talent for The Late Late Toy Show, what would you do?’
Applications close on November 14th and lucky winners will receive a phone call from RTE.
