This week we are taking a trip to France for Deadly or Dump it but no one is bringing a horse. The song is called 'Fade Out Lines.' Originally released by Phoebe Killdeer and The Short Straws with strong blues undertones, The Avener - a French deep house and electro producer - got his hands on it and gave it that French 'je ne sais pas', except I can know what, he sped it up and gave it some serious bass.
The video is oh so cool and French. The male protagonist walks around with a chess board hustling people with a goddamn hoop earring and he doesn't give a crap. The female is obviously a model and so bloody chic. At the end, they meet outside their oh so cool front door and ware the faces off each other. So, Frenchies frenching. Nice. She's also taller than him but, being French, they don't care for your societal norms, right.
This song has been very successful on the mainland reaching No.1 in Austria, Spain and Germany. I can see Mrs. Merkel now, taking a break from talks with the Greeks, throwing on her dre's and blasting this from her phone. Maybe not.
In Ireland, continental house & electro music has been having a bit of a moment with the success of Lilywood and Klingande last year. Could this be The Avener's summer?
So, all I have to ask is:Is it Deadly or should it be Dumped?
It's also worth having a listen to the original version:
