If you're thinking about going to Penney's this weekend, you might find slim pickings because of Electric Picnic. I called in the other night and there were two friends, about 17, who were fighting over who got to buy jelly sandals to wear to the festival this weekend.
Being so young, maybe the women didn't realise that weather forecasts in Ireland are more like weather astrology and it's going to be bloody freezing. The taller girl emerged triumphant in the battle of the €5 rubber shoe. M'lady, your hypothermia awaits.
This morning Ray and I gave our top 5 articles of clothing that you're gonna see at Electric Picnic this weekend.
Muireann's Top Festival Fashion Pieces for Women:
Head Garlands. These make you look like a door knocker at Christmas. They also come with the added advantage of preventing you from putting your hood up or a hat on to ensure maximum rain exposure.
Playsuits. The floral, whimsical version of the Batsuit. This item is impossible to pee in without stripping off to your underwear. Perfect for the urine soaked floors of festival portaloo’s.
Crocheted tops. The sort of thing you might have seen your granny put around the tea pot to keep the heat in that do the exact opposite on humans. They cover your boobs and that’s about it. Most definitely not wind resistant.
Jelly Sandals. These are the footwear version of the crochet top. Guaranteed to give you the flu within 2 minutes.
Shorts. But not just any kind of shorts; shorts so far up your hole that you’ll be walking funny.
Ray's Top Festival Fashion Pieces for Men:
Wellies. They are wellies. Maybe wear some dry socks with them.
Inevitably, everyone will end up like this
ENJOY!
