Dundalk face a huge task to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.
Stephen Kenny’s team were beat 2-0 by Legia Warsaw in their Play Off Round qualifier at Lansdowne Road on Wednesday night.
The controversial opening goal came from the penalty spot in the 56th minute after defender Andy Boyle was adjudged to have blocked a shot with his hand.
On first viewing it looked very harsh, but video replays did show the ball hitting Boyle’s arm.
Evan though he was not looking at the ball, and his arm was by his side, the German referee pointed to the spot.
Nemanja Nikolic converted and the Polish team were in front.
The 25 year old spoke to 98FM’s Jamie Moore after the game.
He was not a happy man.
Legia dealt a killer blow in injury time, when sub Aleksandar Prijovic finished make it 2-0.
