Ray Foley got a lesson in cleanliness this morning on the show. He found out the 5 things you need to replace in your life right now!

Think your mouth is clean after a good brush?  Think again! Your toothbrush is home to more than 100 million bacteria including E. coli and other yucky bacteria. Even faecal germs like to live on your toothbrush!  But apparently it’s not THAT bad.

Your mouth is naturally full of bacteria and your toothbrush probably won't make you sick, but you should throw it out and replace it every 30 days at least!

Same goes for the kitchen cloth! FACT: 27% of household dishcloths contain the raw meat bacteria E. Coli. So to be safe - bin it weekly.

Do you run? If you’ve been running a lot in the last 6 months it’s time to bin your runners. When used a lot, runners lose their cushioning and are less capable of absorbing the impact of your foot landing. This puts you at a higher risk for injury.  Plus mould and fungal infections like to live in your shoes so bin them within a year at least.

Same goes for that old bra. Never let it celebrate a birthday and chuck it out after 8 months. Bras stretch and don’t do their job anymore. Even if it’s one your man bought you with his last pennies, the one you’re most comfortable in, or the sexiest one you own ... If it doesn’t work anymore – throw it out!

Finally for the great clearout:

If your pillow seems softer than when you bought it – it’s time for a new one. A normal brand-new pillow doubles its weight in three years with all the cosy dust mites that live inside it.  Don't even think about the bacteria that might be left behind from that head cold you had…

Washing your pillow will help — but it loses its support and doesn’t totally fix the problem. If they are cheap polyester pillows change them every 6 months – better quality ones might do for up to 2 years!

So for reduced mankiness immediately change:

  1. Your toothbrush
  2. Your dish cloth
  3. Your runners
  4. Your Bra
  5. Your pillow

You’re welcome.
