Two men have been arrested in Dublin in connection with alleged cyber-fraud and the recruitment of money mules.
€64,000 was stolen from nine customers of a bank between August and November of last year, after they responded to fraudulent texts they believed to be from their bank.
Gardai say this money was then transferred to the accounts of money mules and withdrawn from ATMs.
Following an investigation, Gardaí attached to the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB), assisted by Gardaí from Lucan, carried out three searches in Lucan this morning.
Two men aged 19 and 20 were arrested and are being questioned at Clondalkin and Ronanstown Garda Stations where they can be detained for up to seven days.
A total of 11 people have been arrested as part of this operation, to date.
Investigations are ongoing.
