There's not long to go until the return of The Sinner. A new trailer for season 2 has been released, ahead of its US premiere next month.
Season 1 of The Sinner was a huge hit last year after it was streamed on Netflix. It followed a young mother, Cora Tannetti, who brutally kills a man on a beach and seems to have no idea why she did so. Detective Harry Ambrose is then assigned to the case to uncover the secrets of Cora's past.
Jessica Biel, who played Tannetti in the first season of the show previously confirmed her character wouldn't be returning to the show. However, the actress is the Executive Producer of Season 2.
The series now sees Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) back to his hometown in rural New York to assess an unsettling and heart wrenching crime - parents murdered by their 11-year-old son, with no apparent motive. As Ambrose realises there’s nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, the investigation pulls him into the hidden darkness of his hometown. He’s pitted against those who’ll stop at nothing to protect its secrets - and a mysterious woman who proves to be a complicated, enigmatic piece to this haunting puzzle.
Season 2 of The Sinner will premiere in the US from August 1st. It's not known if or when the show will return to Netflix.
