Longtime Springfield resident Waylon Smithers is set to reveal he's gay in tomorrow's new episode of The Simpsons.
After numerous hints throughout the show's 27 seasons that Smithers had feelings for Mr Burns, show bosses revealed a while ago that the character was gay.
Sunday's episode was inspired by Simpsons' writer Rob LaZebnik's relationship with his gay son. According to Rolling Stone, LaZebnik said "What better way to tell my son I love him than to write a cartoon about it?" He added that he'd pitched the coming out storyline three seasons ago.
