Sarah Michelle Gellar will reprise her role as Kathryn Merteuil in the TV reboot of Cruel Intentions. The actress – who starred in the 1990s film - announced the news on Instagram with the caption: “This picture was taken on the eve of production on the original Cruel Intentions. It's me, Roger Kumlble (Director) and Neal Moritz (Exec Producer) and the other is a picture of us now on the eve of production on the new Cruel Intentions.
"That's right 'everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way'. Kathryn Merteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them and NBC on the new #Crueltv."
According to Variety, Kathryn’s character is described as a “smart, sexy, cruel, charismatic, powerful master manipulator”. The film will apparently kick off 15 years after the film ended.
Yesterday, it was announced that Taylor John Smith will be playing Bash - the son of the late Sebastian Valmont - in the reboot.
Variety reports that Bash is introduced to a world of "sex, money, power and corruption" after he discovers his late father's legacy in a hidden journal.
It’s not known if Reece Witherspoon, Selma Blair, Ryan Phillippe or Joshua Jackson will reprise their roles.
