'90s kids rejoice - Rugrats is coming back to our screens!
Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures have announced a new 26 episode animated series revival and a live-action film featuring CGI characters.
Both the series and the movie will star the beloved characters Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica along with new characters.
According to Variety, production is already underway on the series, while an air date and casting news will be announced over the coming months.
Meanwhile, the Rugrats movie is set to be released in November 2020.
Speaking about the news, Sarah Levy, COO of Viacom Media Networks and interim president of Nickelodeon said: “Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures. What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”
