It did work out in her favour alright!

Jane Sibbett, who played the reoccurring character of Ross’s ex-wife Carol, has opened up about her experience acting on the show.

Super Friends fans will know that Jane isn’t the only person to have played the role of Carol during the show's 10-year run.

In the very first episode of the show, the role was played by Anita Baron. But Anita quit after the pilot was shot, leaving TV bosses scrambling to find a replacement.

Jane, who had actually originally auditioned to play Rachel while pregnant, was asked to come back and audition for Carol.

“When I came home from hospital after giving birth, I got a call asking me to come in the next day and read for Carol,” the actress told The Guardian, “Through my baby haze, I agreed.”

“‘I said I wanted to play her as very loving – partly because of the hormones pumping around my body. They said, “Great, go for it.” Within two days, we were shooting. I didn’t see Anita’s version until much later.”

Jane spoke about how she met Anita later on and was afraid she’d be mad she swept this career-defining role from her.

“I eventually met her at a party and thought, “She’s gonna kill me!” But we had a great chat. I thanked her for making the choices she did. She was nothing but gracious,” she recalled.

“‘It was meant to be a fortnight’s job,” the actress continued, “I ended up coming back for seven years. Sure, I wasn’t one of the main six but I’m the extra Friend. Maybe the seventh or eighth wheel.”
