Pierce Brosnan is returning to television. The former James Bond star has reportedly been cast as the lead of AMC's upcoming drama series The Son.
According to Deadline, Brosnan is replacing Sam Neill, who was originally picked for the role but has left for personal reasons.
Based on the book by Phillip Meyer, Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, The Son is described as "a multi-generational epic tale of the story of America’s birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family".
The Son, which begins production this month, is set to premiere in 2017.
